This pattern is great if you've always wanted to knit with two colours! It is a small project, and after some practice you will see how the pattern is created under your hands.
Knitting color
There are different names for knitting with two or more colors at the same time. One calls it knitting in, the other Jacquard, or Fair Isle knitting, after the islands of the same name on the north coast of Scotland. Color knitting is usually done in stockinette stitch.
In this technique you use two colored threads in a row, but in such a way that you always knit with 1 thread. The other strand will be loosely guided along the back of the piece, and as soon as it is needed in the pattern, knit with this strand. You keep changing the colored threads, creating a certain pattern. Usually a color pattern has no more than 7 stitches per color.
Knitting color works best on circular needles. This way you see the pattern clearly and you prevent your work from getting 'tight' by the threads behind the work.
