Knitting mosaic
Knitting this stitch seems difficult at first. But nothing is less true! Just like with Fair Isle knitting, you knit with two colours. However, you only use 1 color in each round instead of two. You work in the forward row as well as in the return row with 1 color. In between you remove stitches.
All stitches in mosaic are worked in garter stitch. This way of knitting creates a graphic pattern with depth.
Example: On the first row knit all stitches in color A. In the meantime slip the stitches in color B with the right needle. Keep the thread behind the work. On the return row knit all stitches in the same color (garter stitch) with the same color. Arriving at a slipped stitch, pull the strand (A) forward, pass the slipped stitch (B), bring the strand forward again and knit the sts in the same color (A) of your strand.
Tip!
Always knit a test piece first. Do this with the mosaic pattern.
