This colorful rainbow dress  called 'Venus' was created in collaboration with

Atelier Annette van der Swaluw.

Here is our story:

The idea was born from her to design a rainbow dress and shape it by knitting or having it knitted. After some searching she found  me, and I was the lucky person to knit this special piece for her.

Enthusiastic as Annette is, she picked up her knitting needles herself and started knitting a number of test pieces. This allowed her to visualize very well what the dress would look like.

She was looking for a hypo allergenic sweater, because she is allergic to wool. Based on the various ecological yarns from my eco list , she made her choice. In the end she chose a cotton yarn.

Because we are both artists, and want to understand the process, we have been in contact with each other for a while. Annette is someone who wants to experience everything from start to finish, and I have to say that was something I had to get used to that. But because of her clear wishes, her beautiful sketches, and detailed questions, I could gradually see the dress in front of me and the image was in my head.

Now I could start knitting! After a few weeks, the dress was actually knitted and made, ready to be received by Annette.

We worked together on this special creation. Thanks to the 100% confidence that Annette had in my abilities and a few adjustments regarding the turtleneck (it should not be too tight) the result is there! Grateful and proud that we are.. See Annette shine in her dress thats fits her like a glove!
